Meetings take place from 2:00 - 4:30 PM, the third Sunday of each
month at the Center
for Urban Horticulture on the University of Washington campus
unless otherwise noted below.

January 20th,
2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program:In our January meeting, Don Armstrong will share some of his
favorite crests and curiosities, and explain why plants sometimes adopt aberrant growth patterns. And just for fun, we will hold a contest to see how many of these plants you can identify—despite their weird shapes and sizes. Prizes will be awarded to the best teratologists among us, so brush up on your Latin!. COM: Escobaria presented by Dixon.
February
17th, 2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: European Gardens presented by Eugene. Join us for a slide presentation of the 2002 FLORIADE, the 2002 CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW, The Bagatelle, the Citroen Park and other interesting places in Europe. COM: Echinocactus and Echinocereus by Mick. SOM: Sanseveria by Karen.
March 16th,
2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: Join us for a visual expedition to former
French colony of Madagascar lead by
botanist Dr. Frank Almeida. Malcolm and
his daughter, Marta, will share slides of
flora and fauna — imagine a chameleon
only 2cm long! — of this unique island.
Madagascar is home to the amazing
Baobab tree as well as the razorsharp

April 20th,
2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: CCSS Members' Over Abundance Plant Sale and Swap. Come with cash in hand for some great deals. Bring your succulents for sale or trade. COM: Arborescent Cacti – Members of the Cactus Family with a Tree-Like Growth Habit by Don A . SOM: Haworthia by Karen S.
May 17th - 18th,
2008 - In lieu of a regular meeting there will be a 2 day club Field Trip to Union Gap, WA (Ron McKittrick's Garden). We will visit Ron's garden on Saturday. Those who stay overnight can hunt for the native Pediocacti and Lewisia.
June 15th,
2008 - Father's Day - No meeting this month.
July 20th,
2008 - Our club's summer potluck picnic will be held at the Volunteer Park Conservatory. More information will be in The Point.
August 17th,
2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: Costa Rica presented by Giselle B. COM: Saguaro by Sheila S. SOM: Hyancintheae by Giselle.
September 6th and 7th,
2008 - Our annual TOPSS (The Odd Plant Show and Sale) Returns! This year on September 6th and 7th, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, the famous succulent sale will take place at the CrossRoads Mall in Bellevue. The event will be held near the Food Court. And, by the way, it's a sale so nice they named it twice. The sale is also being advertised at "The Desert Show and Plant Sale." Tell all your friends...see you there.

2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: Spiny Photography Tips presented by Dixon and Eugene. Join us for tips on how to take excellent digital photographs of your specimens given by are very own club photograpers. Bring your cameras! COM: TBA. SOM: Sempervivum by Jean M.
November 16th,
2008 - Regular Meeting at CUH. Program: Introduction to the Botanical Drawing of Cacti and Succulents by Sheila. Please bring a specimen that you've been wanting to draw and the art media of your choice (pencils, markers, watercolors, pastels). There will also be plants at the meeting. December 7th, 2008 - CCSS Annual Holiday potluck and plant exchange.
